Wind Cave, located in the Rapid City, SD, area, is the 4th longest cave in the world and one of the most complex. It is well known for its outstanding display of boxwork, an unusual cave formation composed of thin calcite fins resembling honeycombs.

Someone noticed that wind blew out of this hole.
It is a loooong way down into the cave. This is what is known as "boxwork", a rare
and unusual formation in the cave. The photos don't really show the beauty of the cave. The area surrounding the cave is also home to many different animals, including buffalo, deer, pronghorns, and a variety of birds.
This was some kind of woodpecker, though I am not really sure which kind.Lots of pretty, little flowers!
