THEODORE ROOSEVELT NATIONAL PARK

As the 20th Century began in 1901, Theodore Roosevelt became the nation’s 26th President and ultimately one of its greatest conservationists. It was only natural that he would have a National Park named for him. Theodore Roosevelt’s experiences in the Dakota badlands shaped his adult life, directed him to the Presidency and on to become one of the world's leading land conservationists. Theodore Roosevelt National Park is a beautiful place overflowing with wildlife and breathtaking views.

"It was here that the romance of my life began."

The buffalo herd is massive. They are all over the park.

The buffalo don't seem to mind the humans. But, I understand they will kill you if they want to! There were a lot of baby buffalo in the park This baby looked almost newborn.

It started to snow and this baby ran to his mother!
She kept him warm!
There are a lot of wild horses in the park
This was a beautiful horse
Amazing blue eyes!
He was skeptical of me, but wanted to get past me
He came close, but kept his eye on me
This baby was ADORABLE!
He got real cocky and ran away from his mother
The park has beautiful scenery.
Petrified wood
There are many herds of both deer and elk.
These are elk. They are shy animals who
only come out early in the morning or in the evening.
The deer are equally shy but easier to spot
There must be a million prairie dogs in the park.
This guy has fleas!!!!!
They are an interesting animal to watch.
They look out for each other like meerkats.
When danger approaches (me), one would
bark at the others to go underground!
They are so CUTE!
I got carried away with the pictures of them!
This is how they bark out orders. They stand
on their back legs and yap!
The park is a birdwatcher's dream!
I found this funky little bird fascinating.
I have no idea what it was - it had the body
of a hawk and the round face of an owl.
I believe these were a pair of golden eagles fighting
with another bird.
This looks like a golden eagle.
"MALTESE CROSS CABIN"
This was Theodore Roosevelt's home when
he came to North Dakota. It had 3 very small rooms
and was considered a mansion for the time period.
The inside of the cabin.
President Roosevelt's bed
(not exactly the White House)
Theodore Roosevelt and John Muir standing
together at Yosemite.
The sun starts to set over
Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
A herd of elk come out at nightfall.
Venus also sets.
